And Rubi Makes 3

Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength.

My How She's Growing!

Rubi had her 2 month appointment on Monday (a little late since she'll be 3mos on Sunday). She now weighs 13# 10.5 oz and is 24" long. I can't believe that she's nearly doubled her birth weight!
She had to have her immunizations and the nurses had me hold her legs down. I think I may have cried harder than Rubi did! What a terrible thing to make a new mommy do! I hated it and I'm making daddy do it next time.

Blue Jean Baby

Oh My Gosh!!! How cute does she look in these?!?!?!?!?!?
She looks like a little tiny person. Which, in a way is kind of sad. She's growing up so fast.

I swear just the other day she said "mama". I know it's just wishful thinking but I also know she will be talking before we know it. She'll be talking up a storm if her babbling is any indication. Her little voice is so sweet. She just coos and "talks" all the time. And that dimple! It just melts my heart every time.

Fun In The Sun

Sunday afternoon we loaded up in the car and took off for Rock River Rapids in Derby. We questioned our sanity taking a 2 month old baby to a waterpark, but once we got there we saw that there are other people just as insane as we are!

Rubi LOVED the water - she's going to be a little fish just like her dad (that's what he says anyway). She just cooed and ooed and awed the whole time. The other kids kept her entertained (my sisters and their families went also). But by the time we were ready to go home Rubi was cashed out. She slept like a rock that night! Maybe I'll start taking her there everyday! :)

Many Faces of Rubi 2

Music Buff

Give me some headphones and leave me alone says Rubi. Rubi could be in the worst of moods but its no problem Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" or Eric Clapton's "Knocking on Heaven's Door" can't solve. Usually the headphones mean sleep in Rubi's immediate future. Happy coos from Rubi accompany the music in her headphones, followed by drowsiness, and eventually slumber.

Great Grandpa and Grandma and Rubi

One of the most powerful handclasps is that of a new grandbaby around the finger of a grandfather. ~Joy Hargrove

Our children are here to stay, but our babies and toddlers and preschoolers are gone as fast they can grow up - and we have only a short moment with each. When you see a grandfather take a baby in his arms, you see that the moment hasn't always been long enough.

In My Daughter's Eyes

In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see
How happy she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes
