I Spoke Too Soon

Well, just yesterday I was bragging about how good Rubi is when she's sick and it turned around and bit in the you know what. Last night we had to take Rubi to the emergency room with a temperature of 103.1. She was acting just like her normal self until they had to start an IV. Talk about traumatic - for her and for mommy and daddy!
Turns out that she has a urinary tract infection. We now have to take her to a pediatric urologist to see if they can figure out exactly why she got the infection. Appartently some babies are born with a problem that causes this problem and they have to be on antibiotics for 2-4 YEARS. Yes, I said years. Please pray that Rubi is not one of those children and this was just a freak incidence!
Anyway, we are home now and Rubi is pretty much back to her old, cheerful self - occasionally she has a flashback and starts crying but that's not anything that mommy and daddy can't deal with.

"Time to go home - yay!"

Not A Care In The World

Well, it was inevitable that Rubi would eventually get sick since EVERY single person in my family has been sick (John & I included). Here she sits with a fever of 100.3 and she's talking and smiling. How did I get so blessed?! She's so wonderful. The only time she even acted fussy was when I took her temp for the 1000th time! (I'm just slightly anal). Hopefully everytime she gets sick it will be this easy!

Rock Chalk Rubi

Rubi had one hawk of a weekend. Saturday we went to Lawrence to the Football season opener against Northwestern State. Rubi was Hawk'd out and ready to go. But, she had to stay at grandma's with Aunt Linda. Greg and Mellissa came as well and Rubi had her first encounter with cousin John (Great Name). The day was a great sucess because KU won 49-18
