And Rubi Makes 3

Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength.

Smart as a whip!

Rubi has lots of toys (believe me!) but this seems to be one of her favorites. Daddy showed her that the balls go in the top and when you push the lever on the side the balls come out the front. It's so adorable to watch her! She gets her concentration face on (you'll know what I'm talking about when you look at the pictures) and then she will actually try to put the balls in (mommy & daddy have to help w/ this since she doesn't let go of them) and then she immediately reaches for the lever (normally with her left hand. Hmmmm). It sure makes a parent proud to see that their child is smart! :)

It's only been a year?

January 7, 2006
Life has treated us well. Love to you, my husband and friend.

And Along Came Artie

Insanity: the state John and I have entered. We added to our cozy little family last night with the addition of Artie. Artie is a 7 week old rat terrier/schnauzer mix. He's just adorable - as you can well imagine with the mixture I just told you! :) Seriously, though, he is really cute.
I think he's suffering slightly from separation anxiety. He had 6 other brothers & sisters and now he sleeps alone. Hopefully the cats will take him under their wing - yeah right!! :)

Happy New Year From the Giffin Family!

Rubi had a lot of fun on her first Christmas. True to baby form she enjoyed the wrapping paper and boxes, but she did show some interest some of the toys (the noisy ones anyway)!

We got all moved in to the new house. Now we just need to get all unpacked. Maybe we'll be done with that by this time next year! My older sister and mom came by yesterday and really made me get busy. We got Rubi's bedroom all organized and the living room and dining room all cleaned out. It was so nice to not be stepping over things anymore and I was able to change Rubi in her room and not in the middle of the living room floor! Oh, the things that you take for granted! :)

John had to work on New Year's Eve and Rubi and I tried to stay awake until he got home but we just couldn't do it. I think we were asleep by 10. Daddy got home at 11 and the neighbors set off some fireworks to bring in the new year but Rubi and I just slept right on through it. Maybe next year we'll stay awake to see the first few minutes of the new year???!!!

John and my anniversary is this coming Sunday (the 7th). Grandma Barbara is going to come down Friday night to stay with Rubi so that John and I can go out. I'm a little anxious to leave my baby for the night, not that Grandma isn't able I've just not ever been away from her for the night. I'll be a big girl though and not cry. :) We have reservations at the Hyatt in Wichita (fancy, fancy) and I think we'll try to go somewhere nice for dinner. On Saturday we're going to go shopping for some clothes and new furniture for the new house. I've never had brand new furniture. This is going to be a real treat.

We'll be talking to you soon! Love to you all!
